What’s new in Koko Analytics 1.9? Geo-location is!

Posted on by Danny van Kooten.

I’m excited to share that a much requested feature has made its way into Koko Analytics Pro: Geo-location.

This means you can now see where in the world your visitors are coming from — all while keeping their privacy intact.

How it works (without compromising privacy)

We built this new feature with privacy in mind, so there are no harmful privacy implications. Here’s the gist of it:

  • IP addresses are not stored.
  • Geo-location happens locally, so IP addresses are not shared with any third-party.
  • The only thing that is stored is an aggregated count per country, so there is no way to track an individual from a specific country over time.

The result? You get useful country-level data while your visitors keep their right to browse without being tracked across the web.

Available now

Geo-location is available today in Koko Analytics Pro. If you’re already a Pro user, just update to the latest version and enable geo-location from the settings page to start seeing location data in your dashboard.

What’s next?

Geo-location had been top of the list on our feature request board for quite a while. Make sure to submit your feature request so the list is accurate and we get a good feeling on where to focus our efforts next.

Because the necessary groundwork has now been laid to track other metrics, we’ll probably work on tracking a couple of the most important browser statistics next.

We hope you will enjoy this new feature – we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below or over email!
