About me
Hi, my name is Danny van Kooten. I’m a web developer and father of 2 from The Netherlands and the developer of Koko Analytics.
Back in 2016, when GDPR was first introduced, I started experimenting with privacy-friendly website analytics. That journey began with my work on Fathom, an open-source (at the time), self-hosted analytics solution with the goal of providing site owners with a privacy friendly and easy-to-use alternative to Google Analytics.
But life had other plans, as I became a new dad shortly thereafter. The pace and demands of an early-stage bootstrapped start-up company growing at a fast rate were hard to juggle with sleepless nights and tiny socks everywhere.
My passion for privacy-friendly analytics never faded though. In 2019, when baby dust had settled somewhat, I decided to focus my efforts on something simpler, faster, and tailor-made for WordPress users.
That’s how Koko Analytics was born — a plug-and-play WordPress plugin that gives you the most important metrics without requiring any third-party services or intruding on your visitor’s privacy.
Today, the Koko Analytics plugin powers well over 50.000 active sites out there, providing site owners with simple analytics without invading on the privacy of their visitors.
When I’m not coding or answering user questions, you can probably find me riding my bike, baking pizza for family or friends, reading a book or walking my dog named … Koko!
If you believe analytics should be simple, honest, and respectful, you’re in the right place.
You can find more about me on my personal blog or my company website.
